DENTAL IMPLANT PROCEDURE

AUSTIN IMPLANT DENTISTRY

We understand dental implants aren’t something that rolls of the tongue for a lot of people.

WHAT TO EXPECT: DENTAL IMPLANTS

Pre-Implant Surgery

During your consultation, our Dental Implant Treatment Coordinator will send you for imaging of the proposed treatment area(s)- referred to as a CT Scan. This scan will help Dr. Patel better plan for your surgery as well as make sure you are a good candidate for the procedure (i.e., ample bone level to hold the implant in place as well as space allowed for implant). Once the doctor has determined you are the right candidate for the implant, we will then begin planning for your surgery. Time from Consultation to CT Scan to Surgery date is about 2-3 weeks.

Day Before Dental Implant Surgery

You will pick up oral conscious sedation prescription from your pharmacy of choice. Our Austin dental team will advise you to either take the medication an hour before your scheduled surgery appointment or to arrive at your appointment early to take medicine at the office.

Day of Dental Implants Procedure

On the day of the surgery, you will be greeted by our friendly team and brought into the surgery room where you may leave your personal belongings. You will then be placed on nitrous oxide to minimize pain and discomfort. Once you are completely sedated, the surgeon will remove any teeth required by your treatment plan and then place the implant(s). Depending on how many implants are being placed the processes takes from one hour to five hours. In many cases, a temporary partial will be placed to fill the space of the missing tooth or teeth.

Following the Implant Procedure

When you leave our Austin tx dental office after surgery, you may feel minor pain that can be treated with over-the-counter medication. You may expect some degree of bruising and swelling in the gum and soft tissues. Please see the Post-Operative Instructions for Dental Implants that our team has provided for you for further instruction.
Timeline for the final restoration placement of the missing tooth or teeth is dependent upon the implant type. With both types of implant placements keep in mind there will be an additional appointment before placing the restoration(s) to take a quick impression after the gum tissue has healed and right before the dental implant crown is placed.

Factors Determining The Dental Implant Surgery Procedure

The dental implant surgery procedure is determined by several factors that range depending on the condition of your oral challenges and the position of the jaw. The dental implant surgery dentist first takes the time to study the difficulty and the seriousness that it has taken before they embark on setting up a treatment plan for you. They greatest benefit that is associated with the dental implant surgery treatment procedure is that you can get your smile back with the help of the new teeth that are in place. The dental implant surgery takes time for a full recovery to be attained after one is operated since the healing moments have to be taken with a lot of care.

Painless Dental Implant Surgerye

Given the technology that is employed in the dental implant surgery treatment process, one is assured of getting full recovery while they can have all this done at comfort. They will end up recovering without any pains associated whatsoever. This explains why you are asked to avoid cold food substances as they are set to cause pain in the teeth if the full recovery has not been attained. This is the procedure that is conducted to the patients before they are allowed to have a teeth replacement done to them. With this, the patients are assured of great results that will completely transform their verbal abilities. This can take several steps with the first step focusing on the jaws so that they are prepared to handle the implants. This means that they have to be strengthened for this case.

Before undergoing the dental implant surgery treatment procedure, it is essential for one to get the correct attention of the dentist who in return will offer you with the information that you need in regards to your situation. You will be, therefore, psychologically prepared for the main areas that are involved in the Dental implant surgery. One will learn that it is the last stage of the dental implant surgery in which the artificial teeth will be offered to the patient. Initially, they have to be prepared by creating a firm root for the placement to be achieved. This can take several days, but what matters is the permanent solution that is associated with the plan. It is vital to learn of what to expect first before you settle for the Dental implant surgery treatment procedures since it offers you with the picture of the entire idea that stands before you.

Why Dental Implant Surgery Takes Long?

The long treatment period of dental implant surgery comes in as a result of the bone that has to be prepared to be able to withstand the placement of the artificial teeth or dental implants. The bone, therefore, has to develop in the bones fully. This will able your jaw to be able to stand firm even in the moments that come with the chewing process that follows the full recovery from the oral challenge.
