Did you know there is more to an oral hygiene routine than just brushing your teeth? Well, it’s true. In fact, you need to brush twice a day, floss once a day, and rinse your mouth daily. In order to do so, you need the proper tools, which are:
Toothbrush: A soft-bristled toothbrush is ideal for cleaning your smile, even though it might not seem like it. The soft bristles will thoroughly scrub your teeth, help prevent cavities and tooth decay, and will also take good care of your gums. When it comes to using a manual or electric toothbrush, your preference is all that matters. Both types of toothbrushes can effectively clean your smile.
Toothpaste: It’s best to use a fluoride toothpaste when you brush your teeth. The fluoride will penetrate your tooth enamel and strengthen and nourish your teeth. This gives your chompers the ability to fight off dental issues, like tooth decay and enamel erosion. You can also look for other types of paste that can help with specific problems, like desensitizing toothpaste or whitening toothpaste.
Floss: Floss is the strongest tool to use when cleaning the crevices of your smile. However, it does not matter which type of floss you use. Feel free to use whichever product you desire. Here is a tip: If you have a hard time sliding the floss between your teeth, you might want to use waxed floss.
Mouthwash: Mouthwash is a great tool that can complete the cleaning job. But, that’s only the case if you use a beneficial product—not one that just freshens your breath. So, make sure to use one that kills bacteria and plaque as well as strengthens and nourishes your teeth.
No matter which products you use, make sure they have been approved by the American Dental Association. This is important because the Seal of Approval means the product has passed tests that evaluate for safety and effectiveness.
